What I Do

Security Operations

Defend! My areas of expertise cover many topics; however below you will find what interests me most and what my primary job is from a hands-on & leadership perspective. I love designing, deploying, operating, and integrating systems and developing the necessary processes and teams so that an organization can detect and respond to cyber threats. Areas of focus: Security Incident Response (IR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Orchestration and Automation (SOAR), Network Security Monitoring (NSM, NTA), Deception and Honeypots.

Cloud Security

[Update 2022: I do cloud security full time now] I spend considerable time in 2019 and 2020 on Microsoft Azure and Office365 programs; designing and implementing the necessary steps to enable Security Operations to operate starting at the architecture for log collection all the way to implementing security automation and cloud ready IR processes for both IaaS, PaaS and SaaS services. Furthermore did I work on the initial PoC security assessments for GCP covering multiple security domains. The move to cloud will change security and combining modern architectures with legacy services will remain a security challenge; however the challenges is what motivates me. Things will not get easier 😁

Management & Leadership

I have strong leadership skills and drive success in an organization. I have a proven record to deliver in complex environments with significant responsibilities and leading a team to success. I have several times over the years established clear strategies and vision for the organization to execute against. I love bringing agility into my team and organization and improving cooperation between teams so we can deliver faster on our mission. Proud to say I even won a leadership award at work.

Hobbies

Outside my IT and IT Security hobby and keeping up with the ever changing IT landscape and consequently the information security space? Time is limited but Dual line trick kite flying, watching (and reading) different science topics on youtube and the Internet, cycling and my familie keep me balanced.
